7 Aspects of the Power of the Holy Communion

This message was not in the schedule for the School of Fivefold Ministry but God spoke to the Apostle to teach about it. Make room in every service, every conference and every plan to allow the Holy Spirit to interrupt if He wants to. Be willing to change your schedule and watch how God will do something tremendous!

THE POWER OF THE HOLY COMMUNION

Taking the Holy Communion, or the Lord’s Table, has become a tradition to many people in the body of Christ but anything you do without revelation of why you do it is just a religious and traditional act; it does not have power. Jesus instituted the Holy Communion in Matthew 26, but the background of it goes back to the order of Melchezedek. It reveals the covenant He was making to raise up priests and kings.

²⁶ While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” ²⁷ Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. ²⁸ For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. ²⁹ But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.”

WHAT IS COMMUNION?

¹⁴ Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry. ¹⁵ I speak as to wise men; judge for yourselves what I say. ¹⁶ The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? ¹⁷ For we, though many, are one bread and one body; for we all partake of that one bread. ¹⁸ Observe Israel after the flesh: Are not those who eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar? ¹⁹ What am I saying then? That an idol is anything, or what is offered to idols is anything? ²⁰ Rather, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to have fellowship with demons. ²¹ You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons.

Communion means koinonia, which means common union, fellowship, friendship, companionship, partnership, participation, contribution, community, brotherhood, sharing, and bonding. As a body of Christ, we share in Christ’s life, nature and purpose.

• Gives you boldness: When we have communion with Christ, it does not just mean we are around Him, it means we partner with Him. Worship and fellowship is part of our communion with Him, but there is more. It is more than just loving Him. Those who know their God intimately, will do exploits. True communion with God is not going to leave you to just sit down and stay comfortable. In our relationship with Him, He releases supernatural boldness. If you have true fellowship with God, it will be manifested in taking risks and doing supernatural demonstrations; you would make history! You come out of His presence with daring boldness. Boldness does not come from reading books or listening to tapes, it comes from communion with Him. When you come out of your closet, you dare pray for the sick and cast out demons! You come out like a lion, hungry to change history!
• The devil tries to divide different nationalities because he knows that as a community–despite the different doctrines, color of our skins, personalities–we can unite and fellowship in Christ’s life, nature and purposes. The glue that joins us is the person of Jesus Christ. We share in Christ’s life, nature and purpose. Eternal life does not mean long life, but rather we share the abundant life of God, when we are born again. We may not agree with everyone about everything, but we unite in agreement with the big picture: the purpose of God.

Paul passed on what he received from the Lord, not just a tradition, because he had revelation of it. Revelation has the power to activate your spirit. When you have revelation of something, you will have the ability to do what you learned. Paul was not part of the twelve original disciples, yet the others did not receive the revelation because they were too close to Jesus. They became too familiar with Him. Consequently, Jesus gave the revelation to someone who never knew Him physically. He received the revelation of the Lord’s Table having never participated in it with Jesus and His disciples.

Familiarity is an enemy to anointing.

²³ For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; ²⁴ and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” ²⁵ In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” ²⁶ For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.

ASPECTS THAT REVEAL THE POWER OF THE HOLY COMMUNION
1. ANNOUNCE the death of Jesus Christ to principalities on heaven and earth.

²⁶ For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.
- 1 Corinthians 11:26

To announce means to proclaim and declare out loud. When you take communion, you are announcing, proclaiming and declaring to the visible and invisible world—to angels, archangels, principalities and powers, both evil and good on heaven and on earth—the death of Jesus Christ until He comes. You proclaim that He died, He is your Lord and your Savior, He redeemed you of your sins, you are a Son of God, and that He paid the price for you! When you announce and proclaim it with the Holy Communion, Jesus will manifest the power in it. It does not happen often in church services because people are taking part in it out of tradition, not revelation; but when we take it out of revelation, Jesus will manifest protection, power, authority, prosperity and healing in our lives! Every time the devil comes against your finances, your children, your ministry, you have to announce the death of your Jesus Christ, its benefits and what Christ has done for you. It is not just a beautiful symbolism; it is life that you are consuming! You are announcing that there is blood on the doorposts of your house!

2. REMEMBER His love for you and the defeat of the devil.

²⁵ In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

Scientists say that when you do, see or hear things yourself, you retain 80% of it and you always remember. Jesus told us to take the Holy Communion in remembrance of Him. Remembrance means to go back in time to the point when and where it happened, to recall, to be reminded of. The Holy Communion is not just a religious symbol of something; you are drinking His blood and eating of His body. Jesus wants us to remember—to go back to when you heard the nails and the hammer. Go back to when He took your sins and sicknesses on that cross. You didn’t have to be there physically; you can go back in time every time you take the communion.

Hear the sounds of them whipping His back and pressing that crown of thorns over His head. Every time you take it, remind the devil that he was defeated and he has no place in your life. Jesus took your sins and poverty. You remind the devil that sickness, poverty do not belong to you. If you struggle with doubt because of your crisis and problems and you don’t know what to do, God is telling you now to take the communion with revelation and He will show you how much He suffered for your healing, prosperity and forgiveness. You don’t want to sin when you see what Christ did for you.

People are living in sin because they have never seen that which Christ did for them on the cross.

3. EXPECT His coming.

You are saying you are waiting for Him, for His second coming. First, he takes you to His past, then He takes you to your future. If you are going through difficulties, He wants you too see that your future is so bright–not because of who you are and what you can do–but because of what He did for you on the cross.

The first three aspects have to do with Jesus and your relationship with Him. The next three have to do with your relationship with the body of Christ.

4. DISCERN the body of Christ.

²⁷ So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. ²⁸ Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. ²⁹ For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.
- 1 Corinthians 11:27-29

To discern means to see below the surface, to perceive the inner reality. If you don’t discern the body, you are eating your judgment because you judge according to the physical. Without discernment, you could end up despising powerful men and women of God because of superficial judgment. Many people have persecuted Apostle Maldonado by leaders of other countries just because he lives in America. He has been judged and criticized in the media. Many pastors complain that they do not have leaders, but it is because you are looking at the disasterous lives in front of you. You need to look beyond the physical and discern the trapped lions and eagles that are just hurt and wounded. They are there for you to take to a new dimension, but you reject them. The body of Christ needs discernment. The devil has robbed us of men like Benny Hinn and Billy Graham because God brought them to you for you to adopt and raise up, but because of lack of discernment, we rejected them.

³⁰ For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep.
- 1 Corinthians 11:30

• Consequence of No Discernment: sickness, weakness and death.
  God says because of this many are weak, sick and some have even died as a result of judging each other, complaining about their spiritual parents, for harboring lack of forgiveness, bitterness and resentment towards people in the body of Christ and then consuming judgment with the Holy Communion. In fact, God told the Apostle it is the main cause of the death in the body of Christ. If you are mad at your leadership, pastors, your spouse, your kids, or anyone in the body of Christ, repent! Don’t judge, reject or persecute the body. Honor the people God has placed in your life.

5. PARTICIPATE in the same bread.

Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all share the one loaf.
- 1 Corinthians 10:17

⁵³ Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. ⁵⁴ Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. ⁵⁵ For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. ⁵⁶ Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. ⁵⁷ Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. ⁵⁸ This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.”
- John 6:53-58

This is what unites us – the bread and the wine: Jesus’ life and blood. When you have discerned the body, then you are drinking life, abundance and youth.

6. SHARE with each other what God has given you.

This is what makes us different. Share each other your resources, revelation, finances to spread the kingdom throughout the world.

7. SEPARATION from the world.

²⁰ Rather, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to have fellowship with demons. ²¹ You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons.
- 1 Corinthians 10:20-21

This does not have to do with Jesus or the body; but rather with the devil and the world. When you take the communion, you are drawing the line between you and the world. You are declaring that you no longer serve the world; you are separated from it. The only reason we go to family parties is not to do what they do, but to be a light. When you live a holy life, even your worldly job bothers you; but you have to be there because you are the light. When you buy a book or a CD, do not participate with those authors and artists who are consecrated to the devil. You have nothing in common with the world and the devil.
